Medical Assistant - Willing to Train!

Job Summary

Facilitate patient flow by verifying insurance, recording medical history in the EMR, and performing preliminary eye tests including visual acuity and pupil observation. Assist physicians with examinations and treatments while measuring vital signs and preparing patients for procedures. Maintain exam rooms and manage supplies, ensuring accurate coding and documentation for all visits. Provide exceptional customer service through phone and in-person inquiries, greeting patients promptly and anticipating physician needs. Work full-time hours Monday through Friday, with flexibility for travel to multiple office locations as required.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Favorable result on Background Check
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excitement to learn and grow
  • Reliable transportation that would allow employee to go to multiple work locations with minimal notice
  • Ability to work weekends when applicable
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
  • Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
  • Visual and auditory acuity - including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Proficient keyboarding skills
  • Use of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and image management system
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications
  • Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet the needs of the business
  • One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working as an Ophthalmic and/or Optometric Technician is preferred
  • Scribing experience is preferred
  • Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification is preferred, but not required
  • Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) certification is preferred, but not required
  • Desire to gain industry knowledge and training
  • Demonstrates initiative in accomplishing practice goals
  • Ability to grow, adapt, and accept change
  • Consistently creates a positive work environment by being team-oriented and patient-focused
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees in a courteous, professional manner at all times
  • Travel to our office in Crestwood, KY will be required as needed
