Job Summary
Check schedules and organize patient flow in the Electronic Medical Record, then accompany patients to exam or procedure rooms. Assist with walking transfers, dressing, and specimen collection while preparing for exams and collecting patient history. Perform screenings per provider guidelines, chart procedures, and relay instructions to patients or families. Manage clerical tasks including verifying insurance coverage, scheduling appointments, obtaining prior authorizations, and updating charts. Set up instruments, clean and sterilize exam rooms between visits, and maintain universal precautions. Administer medications and injections, check vital signs, and assist with minor surgery procedures. Ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines and respond appropriately to emergency codes.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- Medical assistant diploma and certification from an accredited vocational institution or a community college
- Active Medical Assistant Certification or Registry
- Active AHA Healthcare Provider CPR/ BLS certification
- Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks in a timely manner
- Must maintain a pleasant and professional image
- Must demonstrate compassion and empathy when dealing with others
- Must be able to lift 20-50lbs

Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a Medical Practice
- Phlebotomy and EKG experience
- Experience with drug administration, specifically with vaccine and medication injections
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience
