Job Summary

Assist physicians and providers in patient examinations and treatments while maintaining strict confidentiality. Deliver high-quality care by performing EKGs, administering basic drugs, and applying sterilization and disinfection procedures. Manage patient instructions, utilize patient management software, and adhere to CLIA, OSHA, and HIPAA guidelines. Work in a fast-paced ambulatory setting requiring multitasking, strong communication skills, and the ability to define problems and collect data. Requires current CPR certification, nationally recognized medical assistant certification, and a Medical Assistant Program diploma.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program
  • Current, nationally recognized Medical assistant Certification or Registration
  • Current CPR certification
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of CLIA and OSHA guidelines
  • Knowledge of sterilization and disinfection procedures
  • Knowledge of HIPAA laws and ability to adhere to confidentiality policies
  • Knowledge of current medical assistant best practices and procedures including EKG and basic drugs
  • Knowledge of medical and pharmacology terminology and medical office procedures
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Working knowledge of patient management software and basic Microsoft office products
  • Ability to identify and apply proper communication methods in patient instruction
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret and read documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone and customer service skills
  • Skills to implement good safety practices that prevent exposure to known workplace hazards and the necessary action needed when exposed
  • Skill in applying and modifying principles, methods and techniques of a medical assistant to provide ongoing patient care
  • Strong attention to detail skills
  • Ability to use logic reasoning for simple and complex problem solving
  • May include lifting up to 25 pounds

Desired Qualifications

  • One year medical assisting experience in an ambulatory/clinical setting
  • EPIC
