Job Summary
Conduct clinical duties under physician direction, including recording patient history, vital statistics, and test results in medical records. Interview patients to obtain medical information, measure vital signs, and accompany them to exam rooms for transfers and preparation. Provide personal assistance, medical attention, and emotional support to patients, coworkers, and customers while maintaining strict confidentiality. Manage inventory of supplies, restock treatment rooms, monitor biohazard and sharps daily, and fill out lab requisitions for pathology. Prepare treatment rooms, set up instruments, and send orders for labs, imaging, referrals, or medications to appropriate facilities. Answer clinical phone calls, check messages hourly, and schedule STAT requests or call insurance for prior authorization as necessary. Work 40 hours per week in a medical office setting with moderate noise levels, requiring the ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform frequent bending and twisting to assist patients.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of a medical assistant program
- Computer experience with EMR knowledge
- Professional appearance
- Strong medical terminology
- Must demonstrate excellent phone etiquette and exceptional customer service skills
- Excellent work ethic, including integrity, positive attitude, productive, organized, treats leadership with respect, excellent attendance, continuously learning and willing to ask for assistance
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a detail oriented, fast-paced setting
- Medical assistant certification
- Valid CPR certification
- Able to work 40 hours per week
- Standing for long periods of time
- Ability to see details at close range
- Ability to listen and understand information through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to read and understand information in writing
- Ability to communicate information in speaking so others will understand
- Daily uses of hands to type, file, and write/sign documents
- Minimum lifting requirements of 25 pounds to transfer equipment, help patients with positioning, and pack/unpack supplies
- Frequent bending, twisting, and position changes to assist patients
- Complying with all AZCCC policies and procedures
- Maintaining strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data
- Working shifts as assigned
- Scheduled shifts/locations will rotate according to clinic needs
