Job Summary
Conduct prescribed medical treatment and personal care services for patients seeking treatment in the clinic under physician or mid-level provider direction. Collaborate with the core and expanded PACT Teams to develop patient care plans. Actively assist with physical examinations, schedule appointments, manage Electronic Wait List entries, answer phones, and prepare patient check-in lists. Collect lab specimens including urine, blood, and sputum, and operate electrocardiograph equipment for diagnostic tests. Fulfill compliance requirements for the Office of Inspector General, Joint Commission, and Environment of Care oversight while supporting patient enrollment and retention initiatives. Participate in clinic outreach events and embrace new clinical or operational initiatives. Maintain excellent customer service for patients, colleagues, and visitors.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate of an accredited program as approved by the state
- Minimum two-years' experience as an MA in a related primary care or ambulatory care setting
- Must be remain in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA)
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (must be renewed periodically as specified by the certifying agency – AHA valid for two years, e.g.)
- Current certification in ACLS as specified by individual VAMC contract
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Strong computer skills, including EMR experience
