Job Summary
The Medical Assistant provides essential support and administrative services in a fast-paced doctor’s office, assisting the physician with minor in-office procedures and patient care. Responsibilities include welcoming and preparing patients, taking vitals, updating histories and medications in the EMR, assisting with minor procedures (including digital X-rays and basic podiatric services), applying dressings and providing patient instructions, managing lab specimens and insurance verifications/pre-authorizations, processing prescriptions, making post-operative follow-up calls, maintaining exam rooms and sterilization, inventory management, HIPAA compliance, and travel between local office locations. Strong communication, teamwork, multitasking, and proficiency with Microsoft 365 are required or preferred. The role requires at least a high school diploma or GED and completion of an MA program or 1+ year clinical experience; CMA or RMA certification is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR 1+ year of clinical experience
- CMA or RMA certification preferred
- Experience with medical terminology and insurance processes (preferred)
- Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills
- Ability to travel between local office locations, as needed
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
