Job Summary
Medical Assistant – Urology Office in Albany, NY. The Medical Assistant supports nurses and physicians by escorting patients, taking vital signs, documenting health information in the electronic medical record, processing referrals and pre-authorizations, handling specimens, and performing office testing. Responsibilities include completing patient forms, ensuring confidentiality, coordinating scheduling and revenue-cycle tasks (check-in/check-out/charge entry), maintaining supplies, and providing patient education and administrative support within a provider office setting.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant Training Program
- National Medical Assistant Certification: CMA, CCMA, or RMA (or eligible)
- At least 10 months’ work and/or clinical training experience in healthcare
- Proficient in obtaining manual vital signs
- Experience using an electronic health record system
- Ability to obtain and record patient data including health history, allergies, medications
- Knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology
- Experience assisting physicians, nurses, or other healthcare providers in performing clinical tasks and procedures
- Commitment to confidentiality and respect
- HIPAA compliance
- Ability to provide patients with information related to their health and wellness
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow patient care protocols and office procedures
