Job Summary
The Medical Assistant will support a urology office by maintaining patient flow, responding to information requests, and performing office-based procedures under direct supervision. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, collecting specimens, assisting with minor surgical procedures, managing schedules and patient records (EHRs), verifying insurance, handling billing/coding, and providing patient education and emotional support while upholding infection control, PPE use, and HIPAA compliance. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities are required to adapt to a fast-paced clinical setting.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Assistant Certification or equivalent experience
- Previous experience in a physician office (preferred)
- Knowledge of clinical procedures (vital signs, specimen collection, administering medications under supervision, minor surgical procedures)
- Knowledge of office tasks (scheduling, patient records, EHRs, insurance verification, billing and coding)
- Excellent patient care and communication skills
- Understanding of infection control and PPE usage
- Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced healthcare environment
