Job Summary
Medical Assistant-Urology, full-time (40 hours) performing a wide range of clerical and clinical duties to support physician practices. Provides patient reception, manages patient data and records, assists with patient care under Medical Provider direction, and helps with exam room preparation and sanitation. Performs clinical tasks including vitals, routine physical assessments, CPR, collecting specimens, simple lab tests (CBC, glucose, HKL), EKG and pulmonary function testing, and basic wound care such as suturing and debridement. Coordinates with Centralized Appointment Scheduling, obtains authorizations for specialists within 24 hours, handles insurance-related documentation to secure medical necessity for treatment plans, and maintains accurate entries in patient records. Requires knowledge of medical terminology and CLIA requirements, proficiency with medical equipment, and strong communication skills to triage patients and provide accurate initial assessments to Medical Providers.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate required
- Completion of an accredited course of training in Medical Assisting or 1 year of direct patient care experience in a medical or hospital setting is preferred
- Current CPR certification is required prior to employment
- Must possess current CPR certification prior to employment
- General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Other programs as mandated by Hospital.
