Job Summary
Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain and record vital signs and medication lists, and monitor patient flow. Assist physicians with minor clinical procedures, perform EKGs, and prepare patient charts with pertinent medical information. Schedule diagnostic tests ordered by the physician and ensure health care delivery areas are stocked, organized, and disinfected. Maintain files and records, oversee equipment and office supply inventory, and handle incoming mail and errands. Ensure patient privacy, safety, and confidentiality while complying with infection control policies. Provide coverage or relief for co-workers and communicate patient status accordingly.
Required Qualifications
- High school or equivalent
- Specialized/technical training
- Graduate from an accredited school of Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma program
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City)
- If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date
Desired Qualifications
- 1 year; Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience
- Experience in acute care setting
- Spanish language skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Familiarity with word processing, IDX, GECB, COR Schuynet, Cerner, ProSolv, EPF and scheduling software
