Job Summary
Medical Assistant to support physicians in a podiatric/orthopedic clinic in Athens, TN. Responsibilities include placing patients in exam rooms, completing intake with review of medical, social, surgical histories, taking vitals and documenting in athenahealth EMR, providing patient care including x-rays, assisting in exam rooms, sterilizing and cleaning exam/x-ray rooms, daily administrative tasks, care coordination and referrals, telephonic outreach to Upperline Plus patients, and travel to surrounding area clinics as needed. Requires strong communication skills, proficiency with medical terminology and EMR, and experience in podiatry/orthopedics and x-ray is preferred. On-site, full-time role with regular weekday clinic hours; travel to surrounding clinics may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant preferred
- Podiatry or Orthopedic clinic experience preferred
- X-ray experience is a plus
- Clinical care coordination or care management experience is ideal
- Experience assisting or providing care to geriatric patients preferred
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience with EMR (athenahealth) preferred
- Must be an effective communicator with excellent grammar and interpersonal skills
- Reliable transportation is required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
