Job Summary
Medical Assistant Trainee in Neurosurgery (PRN) responsible for greeting and preparing patients, documenting vitals and histories in the medical record, assisting with in-office procedures, collecting specimens, coordinating referrals and testing, managing patient communications, educating patients about neurosurgical conditions and treatment plans, maintaining infection control and exam-room readiness, and potentially performing medical scribe duties with accurate provider note documentation in the EMR. Requires post high school education or vocational training in healthcare with completion of an accredited medical assisting program within 18 months of hire; RMA/CMA credentials encouraged; BLS certification within 7 days; strong communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited medical assisting program required within eighteen (18) months of hire
- Current Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential encouraged
- RQI Provider (BLS) certification required within 7 days of hire/transfer or before independent patient care
- Medical office experience and medical terminology knowledge preferred
- Familiarity with aseptic technique, infection control, HIPAA requirements preferred
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and basic computer skills
- Ability to participate in onboarding education and competencies prior to patient care
