Job Summary
Prepare exam rooms and assist providers with patient examinations and minor procedures while recording medical histories, vital signs, and chief complaints in the electronic medical record. Apply and remove orthopedic devices such as splints, braces, and casts under provider supervision, and provide patient education on preoperative and post-operative care and medication instructions. Assist with in-office imaging coordination and ensure timely follow-up, while maintaining clean, well-stocked clinical areas and performing administrative duties including scheduling appointments and managing patient records. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations and support surgical scheduling and pre-operative preparation as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in EMR systems and basic computer applications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a certified Medical Assistant program (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a clinical setting
- Orthopedic or surgical specialty experience
- Experience with orthopedic-specific EMR systems (e.g., Athenahealth, NextGen, Epic)
- Familiarity with medical terminology, procedures, and durable medical equipment (DME)
- Bilingual (Spanish, Mandarin, etc.)
