Job Summary
Supervise the Medical Assistant team by creating and maintaining schedules, conducting interviews, and administering progressive discipline. Demonstrate competency in the medical assistant role while coaching staff on performance, developing action plans, and evaluating knowledge of patient care. Manage onboarding and annual education, follow up on EMR inaccuracies, and maintain a clean workstation. Act as a liaison between management and staff, ensuring adherence to OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA standards. Work Monday through Friday 8-5p with varying hours and potential Saturdays. Maintain certifications per state guidelines and present a positive public relations image with patients and visitors.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant (MA)
- Maintain certifications per state guidelines
- 3+ years of MA experience required
- Current BLS card
- Strong computer skills required
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move more than 25 pounds
- Must be able to stand
- Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to talk or hear
- Must be able to walk
- Must be able to sit
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must have close vision
- Must have distance vision
- Must have the ability to adjust focus
Desired Qualifications
- Nationally recognized as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) strongly preferred
- EMR experience preferred
- At least 1 years as a Medical Assistant Lead/Supervisor preferred
- 5+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant
- IV Certification preferred
- Bilingual
- Athenahealth practice management system
