Job Summary
Check schedules, prepare patient charts, and organize patient flow while collecting medical history and charting in the EMR. Perform clinical duties including checking vital signs, measuring height and weight, taking EKGs, and assisting with minor procedures and CLIA waived tests. Maintain exam room cleanliness, order supplies, and ensure equipment is set up for patient care. Send and receive medical records, obtain lab results, and prepare medication renewals for provider review. Respond to clinical emergencies within scope by initiating basic life support and notify appropriate providers. Follow HIPAA guidelines, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Medical Assistant Diploma from accredited institution or community college
- Appropriate Certifications in Medical Assisting, EKGs and Phlebotomy
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Computer skills including knowledge of EMRs
- Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility or provider's office
- And/or documented evidence of externship in a medical office
- EKGs, vital signs, venipuncture experience
- Must be able to lift 20-25 pounds
