Job Summary
Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical/non-clinical support in a Family Medicine clinic. Responsible for completing patient intake steps, documenting information and provider orders in the Electronic Health Record, assisting procedures within the scope of practice, coordinating outside medical records and laboratory/radiology results, ensuring patient understanding of discharge instructions, maintaining HIPAA and Joint Commission policy compliance, stocking medications and supplies, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Works under general supervision across assigned clinic locations with a focus on quality healthcare delivery and patient confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.)
- Medical Assistant Certificate from an approved and accredited educational institution
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers
- Level I fingerprint clearance card: current valid and in good standing or have applied for it within seven working days after beginning employment
- Employees may be required to have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license per organizational requirements
