Job Summary
Manage patient registration, verify insurance eligibility, and process co-pays while conducting interviews and recording medical histories. Measure vital signs, draw blood specimens, and perform point-of-care testing such as flu and strep panels. Prepare examination rooms, stock supplies, maintain inventory logs, and ensure equipment calibration and quality control. Coordinate provider referrals, answer patient inquiries, and conduct follow-up calls. Perform opening and closing duties including cashing out and securing the building. Maintain medical records and scan charts.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
- One of the following certifications at the time of hire: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, or NRCMA
- OR 1+ years of working experience as a Medical Assistant in a Hospital or Urgent Care Setting
- OR 1+ years of working phlebotomist experience
- OR Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing or LPN or RN
- OR EMT certification verified through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians
- OR CNA certification
- CPOE certification for order entry within two weeks of start date
- Ability to type quickly
- Basic computer knowledge
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Detail oriented mindset
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact and treat all persons with fairness, respect and sensitivity to cultural/social difference
