Job Summary
Conduct pre-visit planning by reviewing patient medical records, updating medication lists, and determining needed services through provider conferencing. Prepare patients for examination by measuring vital signs, updating allergy and social history records, and escorting individuals to exam rooms. Assist in capturing demographic information, maintaining clinical supplies, cleaning exam rooms, and autoclaving contaminated instruments. Provide patient care services including injections and immunizations within state guidelines, while coordinating with providers regarding hospital discharges, emergency visits, and chronic condition education. Manage bio-hazardous and regular waste disposal, maintain vaccine temperature logs, and stock rooms to set par levels. Perform administrative tasks such as check-in and check-out functions, opening and closing office procedures, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High School degree or equivalent
- One year of clinical experience
- Graduate of Medical Assistant program
- Current or within 60 days of hire BLS/CPR certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
Desired Qualifications
- Two years of experience in similar healthcare setting
- Customer service experience
