Job Summary
Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, measure vital signs, and prepare patients for examinations. Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and waived point-of-care testing, including advising patients on required preparations. Ensure the electronic medical record is updated with accurate medical information, medications, allergies, and test results. Manage patient flow to optimize appointment availability, reconcile medications, and set up pending refills. Resolve minor patient concerns and keep them informed of visit status. This role supports clinicians in a collaborative cardiology department within Atrius Health, part of the Optum family, focusing on delivering connected care for adult and pediatric patients.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution or governmental unit or a Medical Assistant Certification
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Experience typically acquired through 1+ years of experience in a clinical or customer service setting as determined by the department (a bachelor's or associate degree may be substituted for experience)
- Knowledge of reagent stability and storage
- Understands the testing procedure and factors influencing test results
- The ability to use word processing and spreadsheet programs
- Electronic medical record (EMR) experience and/or aptitude to master the EMR based on other technology experience
- Group is a drug-free workplace. Candidates are required to pass a drug test before beginning employment.
