Job Summary
Greet and escort patients to exam rooms while measuring vital signs and preparing them for examinations. Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and waived point-of-care testing, including advising patients on required pre-visit preparation. Ensure the electronic medical record is updated with accurate demographic information, medications, allergies, and test results. Manage patient flow to optimize appointment availability, reconcile medications, and set up pending refills. Resolve minor patient concerns and keep them informed of visit status or delays. Requires a high school diploma or medical assistant certification, current BLS certification, and EMR experience. Full-time employment with hourly pay ranging from $17.71 to $27.41.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution or governmental unit or a Medical Assistant Certification
- Must be able to pass a drug test before beginning employment
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in medical assisting or graduate of medical assistant certification program
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Experience typically acquired through 1+ years of experience in a clinical or customer service setting as determined by the department (a bachelor's or associate degree may be substituted for experience)
- Knowledge of reagent stability and storage
- Understands the testing procedure and factors influencing test results
- The ability to use word processing and spreadsheet programs
- Electronic medical record (EMR) experience and/or aptitude to master the EMR based on other technology experience
