Job Summary
Greet and escort patients to exam rooms while measuring vital signs and preparing them for examinations. Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures, waived point-of-care testing, and additional department-specific tests. Advise patients on required pre-visit preparation and ensure all pre-visit work is completed. Update the electronic medical record with accurate patient data, including demographics, medications, allergies, and test results. Reconcile medications, set up pending refills, and resolve minor patient concerns. Confirm that lab and test results are available in the EMR before visits.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution or governmental unit or a Medical Assistant Certification
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Experience typically acquired through 1+ years of experience in a clinical or customer service setting as determined by the department (a bachelor's or associate degree may be substituted for experience)
- Knowledge of reagent stability and storage
- Understands the testing procedure and factors influencing test results
- The ability to use word processing and spreadsheet programs
- Electronic medical record (EMR) experience and/or aptitude to master the EMR based on other technology experience
- Group is a drug-free workplace. Candidates are required to pass a drug test before beginning employment.
