Medical Assistant - School Based

Job Summary

Perform a variety of patient care services at the school-based clinic as directed by the Nurse Practitioner, including triaging student needs, administering injections and immunizations, and assisting with sports physicals and PPDs. Collect patient information, prepare exam rooms and equipment, and assist providers during examinations and treatments. Manage administrative duties such as supply ordering, vaccine management, and EMR documentation while performing general lab work and providing patient education on reproductive care needs. Work full-time Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 2 PM or 7 AM to 3 PM.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently not sponsoring work visa
  • Basic Life Support certification through the AHA within one month of hire
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Accredited educational program for the medical assistant
  • Equivalency if presenting a foreign degree
  • Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding
  • Ability to multitask and work in a high-volume patient environment
  • Ability to work as a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to provide confidentiality
  • Understanding of data entry and basic math skills
  • Appreciation and understanding of cultural diversity in the workplace
  • Present dedication and drive toward job
  • Represent a positive and welcoming environment to team and patients
  • Flexible attitude as you may be asked to work at other health center locations to aide staffing levels
  • Reliable transportation
  • Able to be involved in degrees of prolonged standing, walking, sitting, bending, squatting, and stooping; as well as abilities of repeated bending, stooping, and squatting
  • Able to lift, push, and/or pull equipment, light to moderately heavy weight up to 20-30 pounds
  • Able to perform duties during periods of varied and/or prolonged work hours
  • Will be exposed to all patient elements
  • Must be able to read, write, hear, and communicate effectively in the English language by both orally and written
  • Monday-Friday, 6:30AM-2PM or 7AM-3PM
