Job Summary
Medical Assistant for School-Based Health Center responsible for rooming patients, preparing them for providers, completing medication reconciliation and documenting medical history in EMR, collecting specimens, performing routine diagnostic tests (e.g., EKG), administering medications and vaccines as directed, and providing patient education. Responsibilities include preparing exam rooms, supporting telehealth visits, ensuring clean and stocked workspaces, performing point-of-care testing, and coordinating care to support student-centered, culturally sensitive healthcare within school settings. Requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited MA program, BLS certification, proficiency with Microsoft Office and EMR systems, availability to work evenings (until 9 PM) and some Saturdays, reliable transportation between sites, and the ability to pass background checks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Successful completion of a medical assistant training program at an accredited institution
- Basic life support certification
- Experience using Microsoft Office software and electronic medical record software
- Availability to work evenings until 9 p.m. and occasional Saturday morning
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel independently between sites
- Ability to pass a criminal background and a fingerprint background check
