Job Summary
Check schedules, prepare charts, organize patient flow, and room patients. Collect patient history, chart in EMR, and relay information. Check vital signs, measure height and weight, and take EKGs. Set up equipment, maintain cleanliness, order supplies, and keep exam rooms stocked. Assist with minor procedures, process POC tests and specimens, and perform CLIA waived tests. Send and receive medical records, obtain lab results, and prepare medication renewals. Ensure results are reviewed by the physician and provide follow-up. Follow HIPAA guidelines, support care coordination, facilitate referrals, and ensure continuity of care. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and infection prevention protocols. Maintain accurate EHR documentation and respond to clinical emergencies within scope.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Medical Assistant Diploma from accredited institution or community college
- Appropriate Certifications in Medical Assisting, EKGs and Phlebotomy
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Computer skills including knowledge of EMRs
- Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility or provider's office
- And/or documented evidence of externship in a medical office
- EKGs, vital signs, venipuncture experience
- Must be able to lift 20-25 pounds in any given day
