Job Summary

Coordinate patient care with orthopedic physicians and physician assistants by checking schedules, organizing patient flow, and assisting patients to exam rooms. Collect patient histories, conduct screenings, and record vital statistics and test results in medical records. Manage clerical duties including completing forms, charting, and documenting phone calls and prescription refills. Answer patient calls, maintain clean exam rooms, and follow infection control and bio-hazardous waste standards. Adhere to strict HIPAA guidelines and universal precautions while triaging patient care issues in a fast-paced clinic environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid CPR certification
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1-2 years Medical Assistant experience
  • Proficiency with triaging patient care issues
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced clinic
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and safety guidelines/regulations
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Computer proficient
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information from printed sources and computer screens
  • Requires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking and sitting
  • Requires pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift
  • Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time
  • Sitting 2 Hours per Day
  • Standing / Walking 6 Hours per Day
  • Lifting up to 10 lbs Frequently
  • Carrying up to 10 lbs Frequently
  • Pushing/Pulling up to 10 lbs Frequently

Desired Qualifications

  • Valid Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA) preffered
  • Orthopaedic experience a plus
