Job Summary
Medical Assistant position supporting Resurgens Orthopaedics through a partnership with United Musculoskeletal Partners, providing patient care support to licensed providers in an orthopedic spine care setting. Responsibilities include preparing patients for visits, directing to exam/X-ray rooms, assisting during examinations, taking vital signs, interviewing patients and recording medical histories, may order x-rays per provider order, drawing up and administering injectable medications, labeling medications, applying/removing casts or splints, preparing lab requests and specimens, generating orders for prescriptions and imaging, coordinating follow-up appointments and scheduling, reconciling patient health history in EMR, triaging patient inquiries via phone/portal, maintaining exam rooms, sterilizing instruments, and other duties as assigned by Providers, RNs, and managers. Requires good communication, strong organizational skills, HIPAA awareness, and ability to travel between multiple site locations. Education: High School diploma or equivalent and MA program graduate preferred; CPR/BLS required. Two to three years of orthopedic/medical office experience preferred, with proficiency in EMR and orthopedic terminology favored.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Current Basic Life Support (CPR, BLS) certificates
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or Certified Orthopedic Tech preferred
- Two years orthopedic experience preferred
- Three years medical office experience preferred
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proficiency in use of electronic medical records (preferred)
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in all written and verbal communications
- Knowledge of HIPAA and safety guidelines
- Ability to travel between multiple site locations (if applicable)
- Valid Georgia driver’s license and driving history meeting Resurgens’ requirements
- Strong knowledge orthopedic terminology (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of orthopedic surgical and diagnostic procedures (preferred)
- Knowledge of casting and splinting (preferred)
