Job Summary
Measure and record vital signs, ensure accurate EMR documentation, and assist medical staff with patient examinations. Maintain supplies and sterilize instruments while providing patient instructions on service preparations. Perform front office duties including reception, check-in/out, payment collection, and electronic scheduling. Draw blood samples, prepare lab specimens, and administer injectable medications and immunizations as directed. Change dressings, apply bandages, and perform other first aid procedures. Maintain confidentiality of all patient information and follow federal and state regulations. Participate in preventative health care programs and team-based delivery approaches.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of accredited school of medical assisting, or combination of equivalent education and experience
- Minimum One (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant
- Advanced proficiency in phlebotomy and clinical laboratory procedures
- Current CPR (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 60 days of hire
- Medical Assistant certification through AAMA, AMT, NHA or NCCT
- Commitment to concepts of preventative health care programs and team approach to health care delivery
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral/written)
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusion
- Must be available for travel where permitted and as directed
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working front office
- Experience working in a Primary Care setting
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Certification through another accredited association will need review/approval
- Skill certification through NIOSH or CAOHC
