Job Summary
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) sought to join the Occupational Health team at ProgressiveHealth at a major manufacturing facility in Canton, MS. Responsibilities include greeting and escorting patients, measuring vital signs, preparing exam rooms, assisting with care of acute and chronic occupational injuries/illness, disinfecting rooms, stocking supplies, maintaining logs (e.g., refrigerated temps), administering first aid, operating EKG, Spirometry, X-ray, hearing booth, and other diagnostic equipment, performing injections per protocol, maintaining documentation, and performing front-desk administrative tasks. Weekend part-time schedule (Sat/Sun, 12-hour shifts 7PM–7AM). Requires CMA certification or eligibility, or alternative two years of patient-care experience; CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain; knowledge of OSHA/workers’ compensation; ability to stand/walk/sit; strong professionalism and ability to work independently or in a team; and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Required Qualifications
- Certification or eligibility for certification as a Medical Assistant from the American Association of Medical Assistants or American Medical Technologist Organization or current registration with the American Registry of Medical Assistants
- Two years’ work experience in patient care at a health center/doctor’s office if not certified
- CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Basic knowledge of workers' compensation and OSHA regulations (preferred)
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit during shift
- Occupational health experience a plus
- Strong professionalism and customer service in communication
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency with databases and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
