Job Summary
Assist the medical provider in direct patient care activities, including administering oral and intramuscular medications, performing vital signs, wound care, and EKGs. Maintain accurate patient records and manage clinic supplies and equipment reordering. Handle administrative duties such as answering telephone calls, greeting visitors, and referring them to appropriate personnel. Make patient calls to discuss result management and schedule follow-up care like repeat lab testing and referrals. Report any equipment or instrument problems to the Clinical Director immediately. Requires long periods of standing, lifting over 50 pounds, and exposure to infectious materials. Regular attendance is required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid BLS certification
- Knowledge of medical terminology used in a health care facility
- Knowledge of procedures for appointing and routing patients in a health practice setting
- Skills in organizing and maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with patients, clinic/hospital staff, and the general public
- Ability to utilize a personal computer and its applications in a Windows environment
- Ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds
- Regular attendance
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of Medical Assistant program or training received from a Vo-Tech or equivalent
- Experience in lieu of educational requirement
- One (1) year specific related experience
- CMA certification
- Ability to learn the requisition procedures, formats, and protocols of the Clinic
- Ability to maintain a confident, professional demeanor
