Job Summary
This Medical Assistant PRN role involves performing routine clerical, administrative, and clinical duties in accordance with TN state law. The responsibilities include gathering clinical data, notifying physicians of patient status, triaging patients, administering medications and treatments as ordered, conducting testing, assisting with patient care procedures, and maintaining documentation and cleanliness in the workspace. The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, CPR certification, and completion of a Medical Assistant training program or equivalent experience. Candidates must exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a clinical environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Degree, Diploma or Certificate of Completion from an accredited Medical Assistant training program or an accredited nursing program
- Minimum of 1-year prior experience functioning as a Medical Assistant in a clinic/hospital setting or completion of Medical Assistant type training in the armed services
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
- Valid TN Driver’s License and Proof of Valid Automotive Insurance if working as a float
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred experience in a large multi-specialty physician practice
- Understanding of electronic health records (EHR) e.g. Allscripts software
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to stand for 8 to 10 hours a day
- Must be able to lift at least 25lbs
- Exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, medical preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment
