Job Summary
PRN Medical Assistant at American Family Care urgent care centers; blends clinical care with front desk responsibilities. Responsibilities include greeting and triaging patients, collecting vitals and histories, venipuncture and CLIA-waived point-of-care testing, assisting with minor procedures, wound care, EKGs, and nebulizer therapy; insurance verification and patient registration, EMR accuracy; patient education on clinical procedures and financial expectations; maintaining compliance with HIPAA and infection-control standards; participate in daily huddles and maintain logs. Requires completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, active MA certification (CMA/RMA/CCMA or equivalent), at least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and registration, and active BLS or onboarding timeline. Full availability including evenings/weekends with float to nearby centers; drug screen and background check required.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
- At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration required.
- Active BLS certification required or must be obtained within defined onboarding period.
