Job Summary

Prepare for patient visits, room patients, and obtain clinical information including medication lists and allergies. Accurately measure vital signs, document point-of-care testing, and administer medications or immunizations as instructed. Assist providers with minor procedures, clean equipment per infection control guidelines, and obtain prior authorizations. Communicate with patients via phone or in person regarding appointments and test results, then document interactions in the Electronic Health Record. Facilitate tele-health visits and provide patient education on medications and care plans. This role supports primary care and psychiatric providers within an integrated multi-disciplinary team in an outpatient setting. Full-time employment includes a starting salary of $21.50 per hour, comprehensive health benefits, 401k matching, and three weeks of paid leave.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year as a Medical Assistant or clinical support position in a medical or behavioral health setting
  • Annual Flu immunization
  • Annual TB screening
  • CPI training within 90 days of hire
  • BLS certification required within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to sit for longer periods at a computer
  • Ability to travel between AHS locations
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic classifications and medications
  • Accurately measures and records vital signs (BP, HR, RR, height, weight)
  • Communicate with patients in person and via phone with a high level of customer service regarding medications, appointment reminders, test results and other questions, and documents communication in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Accurately completes and records point of care testing, such as a Urine Drug Screen or A1C test
  • Administers medication and immunizations as instructed by the RN or medical provider
  • Obtains prior authorizations for medications, and other supplies, tests or referrals when needed
  • Possible potential exposure to communicable disease
