Job Summary
Assist medical providers with direct patient care activities, including administering medications, performing vital signs, wound care, and EKGs. Maintain accurate patient records and manage administrative duties such as answering phones, greeting visitors, and scheduling follow-up care for lab results and referrals. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under medical staff direction while ensuring clinic supplies are replenished and reporting equipment issues immediately. Requires standing, lifting over 50 pounds, and exposure to biohazardous materials. Valid BLS certification is required, with CMA preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid BLS certification
- Knowledge of medical terminology used in a health care facility
- Knowledge of procedures for appointing and routing patients in a health practice setting
- Skills in organizing and maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with patients, clinic/hospital staff, and the general public
- Ability to utilize a personal computer and its applications in a Windows environment
- Ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds
- Regular attendance
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of Medical Assistant program or training received from a Vo-Tech or equivalent
- Experience in lieu of educational requirement
- One (1) year specific related experience
- CMA certification
- Ability to learn the requisition procedures, formats, and protocols of the Clinic
- Ability to maintain a confident, professional demeanor
