Job Summary
Medical Assistant in outpatient clinic provides direct patient care and clinical support including vital signs, medication reconciliation, patient history collection, and facilitating patient flow. Manages EPIC EMR, schedules appointments, processes medication requests, handles prior authorizations, and coordinates tests and procedures. May perform EKGs, lab tests, injections, and phlebotomy after clinical competency. Requires strong communication and organizational skills and an on-site presence to support providers.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
- 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting
- hands-on patient care experience (vital signs, documenting history, medications, clinical procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections)
- Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant training program with hands-on patient experience OR MA certification/licensure (CMA/AAMA/AMT/NCCT/AAMP or LPN/RN with licensure)
- Basic computer skills; EMR experience a plus
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support within 90 days of hire
- BAT and DOT certifications within 90 days of hire
