Job Summary

Welcome and prepare patients for examinations by obtaining medical histories, vital signs, and medication reconciliation while updating electronic medical records. Escort patients to examination rooms, assist physicians during urologic procedures including cystoscopies and catheter insertions, and prepare procedure rooms with clean equipment and supplies. Collect and label urine specimens, perform point-of-care testing, administer medications and injections as ordered, and assist with patient education on treatment plans and urinary health. Process prescription refill requests, coordinate laboratory testing and referrals, and respond to patient communications with exceptional customer service. Maintain accurate documentation, ensure compliance with OSHA and HIPAA standards, manage clinical inventory, and collaborate effectively with physicians and clinical staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Minimum of one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience
  • Previous experience in Urology, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or another specialty practice
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience assisting with in-office procedures and specimen collection
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and infection prevention practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, and assist patients
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds
  • Manual dexterity required to perform clinical procedures, specimen collection, and patient documentation
