Job Summary
Obtain vital signs, reconcile medications, collect patient history, and facilitate patient flow in an outpatient podiatry clinic. Manage the electronic health record (EPIC), schedule appointments, process medication requests, handle prior authorizations, and coordinate tests and procedures. Perform EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy upon successful completion of clinical competency. This role requires regular on-site presence and includes a retention bonus for new hires meeting eligibility criteria.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
- 1+ year(s) of experience in a medical office, clinic or similar setting
- Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG's, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines)
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
- BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire
- Must successfully complete MA orientation
- Must meet the required standards for clinical competency
Desired Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP
- Graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure
- Basic computer skills
- Experience with EMR System
