Job Summary
The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care, including lab tests, treatments, and medication administration under the supervision of a nurse or physician. Responsibilities include collecting patient data, performing clerical tasks, complying with documentation standards, preparing patients for examinations, handling telephone communications, and ensuring patient safety and quality control. Candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, strong organizational and communication skills, and ideally have prior outpatient office experience or medical assistant certification.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or next level of higher education
- Strong leadership ability
- Good organizational skills
- Independent and critical thinking skills
- Sound judgment
- Knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice
- Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics
Desired Qualifications
- Previous outpatient office experience
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant program or experience as a Medical Assistant for one (1) year
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred
Additional Requirements
- Must possess Act 33 with renewal
- Must possess Act 34 with renewal
- Must possess Act 73 FBI Clearance
- Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program required
