Job Summary
Escort patients to and from exam rooms, record vital signs, allergies, and medications, and administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as directed. Obtain blood specimens from peripheral sites, answer patient phone calls, and contact pharmacies for prescriptions. Process instruments, prepare and stock exam rooms, and assist with scheduling tests and follow-up appointments. Maintain strict confidentiality while performing administrative duties such as typing, faxing, and reception tasks. This full-time, non-exempt position features a daylight schedule with one late night until 8pm weekly. Candidates with Phlebotomy certification must have rooming, vitals, and injection experience. Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- Graduate from an accredited school of medical assistant
- Six (6) months of medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting
- Phlebotomy Certification
- Experience in rooming patients
- Experience taking vitals
- Experience with injections
- Full-time employment availability
- Non-exempt hourly work classification
- Daylight schedule availability
- Availability for one night per week until 8pm
- Ability to escort patients to and from exam or treatment rooms
- Ability to record patient data including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, medications, chief complaint, and reason for visit
- Ability to administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections
- Ability to answer and return patient phone calls
- Ability to contact pharmacies for prescriptions or answer patient telephone calls for referrals
- Ability to obtain patient record information, lab data, diagnostics, and consults
- Ability to obtain blood specimens from peripheral sites in accordance with OSHA and universal safety precautions
- Ability to assist with exams and procedures
- Ability to assist with scheduling tests, procedures, or appointments and follow-up on test results
- Ability to prepare, maintain, and stock exam and treatment rooms
- Ability to order supplies as needed
- Ability to obtain new patient information and test results
- Ability to perform administrative duties such as typing, faxing, and reception duties
- Ability to process instruments and equipment
- Ability to inform physician of patient reschedule or no-shows
- Ability to assist with delegated patient education activities
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
