Job Summary
The Medical Assistant in Pediatrics is responsible for assisting physicians in daily activities, including preparing patients for examination, performing phlebotomy, providing patient education, maintaining a clean work environment, handling prescription inquiries, and ensuring accurate documentation. Key responsibilities include telephone triage and effective communication with patients and healthcare providers. Candidates must have completed an approved Medical Assistant Program or have current medical assistant experience, possess strong organizational skills, and be capable of managing multiple tasks effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program
- 6 months of current experience working in the capacity of a medical assistant or currently enrolled in a nursing program with half of nursing courses completed
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at hire
- Medication Aide Registry (MAR or MAR.40) required within 2 months of hire date
- 6 months previous medical assistant experience preferred
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
- Skill to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks
- Ability to provide caring patient care services when talking with patients and their family members
- Strong verbal communication skills for positive interaction with providers, staff and patients
