Job Summary
Manage patient flow by greeting, escorting, and preparing patients for examinations while measuring vital signs and advising on pre-visit testing requirements. Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures, waived point-of-care tests, and EMR updates, including verifying demographics, medications, allergies, and chief complaints. Keep patients informed of visit status and delays, reconcile medications to set up refills or discontinue inactive prescriptions, and resolve minor patient concerns. Ensure all pre-visit work is completed and test results are available in the electronic medical record.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution or governmental unit or a Medical Assistant Certification
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Knowledge of reagent stability and storage
- Understands the testing procedure and factors influencing test results
- Computer experience with the ability to use word processing and spreadsheet programs
- Electronic medical record (EMR) experience and/or aptitude to master the EMR based on other technology experience
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in medical assisting
- graduate of medical assistant certification program
- 1+ years of experience in a clinical or customer service setting
