Job Summary
Schedule patient appointments, perform patient registration, and maintain medical records while collecting health, medical, and biographical information for the oncology program. Determine program eligibility, process billing, and document all patient interactions. Assist providers with basic procedures including intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections, skin tests, and venipuncture within the scope of training. This role supports the Executive Director of Ambulatory Operations. Candidates must hold a medical assistant certificate, current CPR certification, and a valid California driver's license with a clean record. Spanish language ability is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Proof of completion of a medical assistant course from an accredited technical school
- Proof of completion of the minimum training required either by certificate or validation of training by physician or qualified individual acting under the direction of a physician within 3-months of hire, per Title 16, to include medication administration by intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections, skin tests, and venipuncture or skin puncture for the purpose of withdrawing blood
- Current CPR certification
- Current California driver's license
- Valid driver's license for at least 3 years
- Clean driving record
Desired Qualifications
- Training in medical terminology and front and back-office operations
- Ability to read, write and speak the Spanish language
- Experience performing phlebotomy techniques including special procedures such as injections, blood cultures, skin tests, skin punctures, finger sticks, and heel sticks
- Typing/computer skills
