Job Summary
Medical Assistant in a pediatric urgent care setting provides clinical and administrative support to providers, patients, and office operations. Responsibilities include greeting/registering patients, obtaining medical history and vital signs, preparing patients for X-rays, performing routine labs (throat and urine cultures, venipuncture), wound irrigation/assistance, assisting with lab quality control, supporting patient care under physician supervision, maintaining exam rooms and reception area, ensuring safety and confidentiality, responding to emergencies, following policies, and assisting with additional duties including splint application and other procedures. Requires completion of high school or GED and pediatric experience is preferred; strong communication, multitasking, and computer skills; willingness to learn medical software.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior experience and/or education as a Medical Assistant
- Knowledge or EKG placement and processing in children
- Ability to obtain laboratory tests via nasal swab, and venipuncture
- Professional demeanor
- Strong communications and organizational skills
- Prior pediatric experience
- Comfortable with computers, Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with medical records preferred
