Job Summary
Medical Assistant/Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant/LPN Ambulatory - Neurology at Hillcrest Hospital (Cleveland Clinic Health System). Responsibilities include assisting staff with daily activities, routine procedures and patient education in an outpatient neurology clinic; rooming patients with vitals, collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, and documenting care in the electronic health record. Perform or assist with exams and procedures (e.g., EKG, Holter monitor application, pulse oximetry, wound care), administer treatments, and help with patient/family education. Support clinic setup, daily operations, and ensure clean, organized work areas. Works under supervision of an RN or licensed independent provider, completing nursing assessments and implementing/monitoring the care plan. Requires graduation from an approved medical assisting program or equivalent military healthcare training, or hold an Ohio LPN license, with Basic Life Support certification. Minimum one year of healthcare experience preferred; BLS certification required (or obtained during new hire period). The role is part-time with daytime hours and rotating evenings/weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an approved medical assisting program OR military training as a hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1)
- Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA or Red Cross (required within new hire period if not held)
- High school diploma or GED
- Understanding of human anatomy and basic patient care activities
- One year of healthcare experience in a hospital or ambulatory setting
- Ohio Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
- BLS certification (required)
- Current Ohio LPN license
- Preferred: Medical Assisting Certification
- One year of patient care experience
- Proficiency with electronic medical records
- Completion of CC externship (preferred)
