Job Summary
Prepare patients for exams, obtain histories, and manage proper imaging while assisting with in-office procedures, splinting, casting, and injection administration. Communicate with physicians and physician assistants regarding patient care, obtain clinical data through the electronic medical record system, and accurately fit patients with durable medical equipment. Facilitate outside services such as physical therapy and radiology, ensuring exam rooms remain stocked and maintained. This role requires night and weekend availability, including one night per week and two Saturdays monthly, with on-site training provided. Candidates must hold current CMA or RMA certification and possess excellent communication skills to serve patients in a busy orthopedic environment.
Required Qualifications
- Must be CMA or RMA certified through AAMA or AMT respectively
- Must have current certification or registration
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have night and weekend availability
- Must have reliable transportation to commute to our Fairfield, Milford, Shelton, and Monroe locations
- Must be able to multi-task in a busy, professional, fast-moving environment while maintaining excellent customer service
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and employees
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working as a Medical Assistant in a mid-to large-sized medical practice, preferably orthopedics
- One year of experience, preferably within an orthopedic practice
- Bilingual candidates
- Ability to provide excellent patient customer service
- Ability to assist with a broad spectrum of patients
- Working knowledge of insurances
