Job Summary
Medical Assistant or LPN in Family Medicine: responsible for preparing patients for exams (vital signs, health information), assisting clinicians with procedures (pelvic exams, allergy testing, EMG, colposcopy), administering routine medications per orders or standing protocols, performing lab work and phlebotomy, ensuring smooth clinic flow, and communicating with patients and health-care team. Must have an LPN license or MA credential with qualifying education, BLS certification, and demonstrated ability to provide age-appropriate patient care in a fast-paced outpatient setting. This role requires adherence to safety and infection-control guidelines and may include basic clinical support tasks based on competency.
Required Qualifications
- LPN license issued by the state
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers (AHA)
- Education: LPN requires accredited nursing program; Medical Assistant requires GED/HS equivalency or accredited MA program
- Ability to perform routine and advanced clinical tasks (phlebotomy, lab procedures, EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor, sutures/staples removal)
- Ability to assist with procedures (pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, colposcopy) under supervision/protocols
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate patient flow
- Proficiency with electronic medical records systems
