Job Summary
Greet patients promptly, verify their information, and record medical history and medications in the Electronic Medical Record. Perform diagnostic tests including dilation, refraction, pressures, visual fields, OCT, and topography while checking pupil, muscle, and visual acuity conditions. Prepare patients for treatments, measure vital signs, and maintain exam rooms and drug counts. Coordinate with the ophthalmologist to facilitate clinic flow and ensure HIPAA compliance throughout all encounters.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One year of related experience and/or training
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Reliable transportation that would allow employee to go to multiple work locations with minimal notice
- Ability to work weekends when applicable
- Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet the needs of the business
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms and ocular medications
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
- Desire to gain industry knowledge and training
