Job Summary
Facilitate patient flow by verifying insurance, interviewing patients for medical history, and recording data in the Electronic Medical Record. Assist the doctor in preliminary testing, including checking eye conditions via pupils, visual acuity, and extraocular movements, while performing diagnostic tests such as refraction, pressures, and visual fields using equipment like the auto refractor and OCT. Effectively communicate with patients, doctors, and managers through phone, email, and in-person inquiries, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and company policies. Provide exceptional customer service by greeting patients promptly and maintaining a professional attitude throughout the visit.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Favorable result on Background Check
- Basic computer skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Excitement to learn and grow
- Reliable transportation that would allow employee to go to multiple work locations with minimal notice
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time
- Full use of hands
- Strong fine motor skills
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet the needs of the business
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification is preferred, but not required

- Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms and ocular medications
- dilation, refraction, pressures, and performing a variety of diagnostic tests including visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor and topography
