Job Summary
Facilitate patient flow and assist the doctor in preliminary testing while verifying medical and vision insurances. Effectively communicate with patients, doctors, and managers to answer inquiries via phone, email, and in-person requests. Record medical history, current medications, and visit purpose in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Check patient eye conditions by observing pupils, muscles, visual acuity, and extraocular movements. Perform diagnostic tests including dilation, refraction, pressures, visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor, and topography. Full-time Monday-Friday 8am-5pm schedule with occasional early or late shifts. High school diploma or GED required; one year of related experience preferred. Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Favorable result on Background Check
- Basic computer skills
- Strong customer service skills

- Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet the needs of the business
- Reliable transportation that would allow employee to go to multiple work locations with minimal notice
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
