Job Summary
Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, obtain vital signs, and record medical history. Assist physicians with exams and minor procedures, administer injections, and perform phlebotomy. Manage patient flow, verify insurance information, collect co-pays, and schedule appointments. Provide telephone triage, educate patients on health concerns, and maintain accurate charting under HIPAA guidelines. Ensure exam rooms are cleaned, stocked, and instruments are sterilized. Requires 2+ years of experience, OB/GYN background preferred, and bilingual English/Spanish skills. Compensation ranges from $18 to $22 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant
- High School Graduate or GED
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
- Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time
- Occasionally lifts and carries times weighing up to 50 pounds
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours
Desired Qualifications
- OB/GYN experience
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Athena EMR experience
- Skilled in identifying problems and recommending solutions
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships
