Job Summary
Obtain vital signs, reconcile medications, collect patient history, and facilitate patient flow within the BHMG Neurosurgery outpatient clinic. Manage the electronic health record (EPIC), schedule appointments, process medication requests, handle prior authorizations, and coordinate tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, perform EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy. Regular on-site presence is required to support clinical operations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
- 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting
- Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG's, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines)
- Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
- BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire
- Flexibility to travel as needed to support clinic operations and patient care needs
Desired Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP
- Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure
- Basic computer skills
